Bills of Lading Bill, 2024:

The Bills of Lading Bill, 2024 was introduced in Lok Sabha on 9 August 2024, and was passed on 10 March 2025. Further, this Bill was sent to the Rajya Sabha for consideration. On 21 July 2025, during its Monsoon Session, the Rajya Sabha passed this Bill, and now awaits assent of the President of India. This Bill seeks to repeals and re-enact the Indian Bills of Lading Act, 1856.

Pending invocation of an Indian arbitration, Court orders the Respondent to deposit in court the amounts admitted but withheld by the Respondent under undisputed invoices.

In a notable ruling in the case of Ocean Sparkle Limited v. ONGC, the Bombay High Court addressed a matter under Section 9 of the Arbitration and Conciliation Act 1996 ("the Act"), rejecting ONGC's withholding of acknowledged amounts under uncontested invoices and instructing it to deposit the entire sum in Court.
